This is the heart-breaking, true story of a beautiful, sweet young lady who walked out of her house in rural West Tennessee at 7:45 a.m. on April 13, 2011 and was assaulted and kidnapped by a man who was laying in wait for her. This unspeakable tragedy was compounded by innuendo and supposition that the victim’s brother, her best friend, was either involved or complicit in the crime because he saw his sister and her abductor that morning, but did not realize she was being kidnapped.
The TBI, FBI, Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, United States Marshall’s Service and every agency for miles sent everyone available to search for this precious child. Thousands of volunteers spent countless hours searching for evidence and answers. The case quickly grew into the largest investigation in the history of Tennessee and this book provides insight as to how future tragedies could be prevented.
I wrote the book with unequivocal love for the TBI, the Bobo family and every officer and citizen who fought snakes, ticks, chiggers, kudzu, meth heads and serial rapists to bring this child home and to deliver justice. Everyone admirably gave everything they had to find her. The goals of this book are to dispel any lingering doubt about the family’s involvement or complicity and provide suggestions to law enforcement personnel on how to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
